This policy brief offers key messages and recommendations to address the implementation of the new Urban Wastewater Directive (UWWTD) on microplollutants and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and to pave the way into a smart-discharges-driven operation of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs).
