Abstract:
The DAM WORLD Conference Series serves as a leading forum for sharing the latest scientific and
technical advancements, as well as discussing the key challenges and solutions facing the dam
engineering sector.
The inaugural DAM WORLD Conference took place in Brazil in 2012. The subsequent events, held
inPortugal in 2015 and Brazil in 2018, were both highly successful. The Fourth International DAM
WORLD Conference, originally scheduled as an in-person event in Lisbon in 2020, was instead held
as an online event – the DAM WORLD Webinar – due to the global pandemic.
The National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC) is honoured to host the Fifth International
DAM WORLD Conference. Continuing the tradition of its predecessors, this event will provide a
platform for delegates from around the world to exchange valuable knowledge and expertise. The
theme of DW2025 is “Preserving Life Through Dams,” and we are committed to exceeding your
expectations. Canada will be the invited country, with distinguished experts and representatives
sharing their insights and advancements in dam engineering.
In addition to technical sessions, the conference will feature keynote lectures and pre-conference
oneday courses, all designed to enhance professional practice.
The proceedings of the Fifth International DAM WORLD Conference will be published in two
volumes. All included papers have undergone a rigorous peer-review process, and only those that
were accepted will be presented at the conference and included in the official proceedings.
The Conference Organising Committee would like to extend their appreciation to all the authors for
their contributions and dedication in preparing and submitting their papers. We also wish to express
our sincere gratitude to the members of the Scientific Committee for their thorough and thoughtful
review of the papers featured in these proceedings.
