Abstract:
The presentation delves into Portugal's initiatives dedicated to enhancing the environmental performance of buildings. It specifically examines national strategies, building regulations, certification systems, incentive programs, and efforts to raise public awareness. Its scope are four vital resources: energy, water, materials, and waste. Ultimately, the conclusion is that over the past 10 years, sustainable building has evolved from an emerging trend into a widely recognized challenge that consistently permeates discussions within the construction industry, catalysing a shift in practices.
